Hey You, Yes You. I’m Worried About You.

Good morning all, this was originally run over the summer, but just wanted to share it with you all here. Hugs, Tim

Tim Carr is out here quarantining, eating sandwiches and most all…worrying about all of you.

I sit here on a Tuesday(?) afternoon, do days matter anymore? It could be a Thuesweday for all I know. But I sit here and I’m thinking about you all. I’m worried about you all.

Before we go any further, this isn’t political, on any side, no matter what everyone is going through, politicians are getting paid, I don’t care about them… I care about YOU.

These are some sad times, these are some weird times. I think it’s taking a toll on all of us. I now talk to my friends on a laptop a few times a week while shoving a sandwich into my big dumb face. I now dress like the villain from GI JOE to go outside.

2020: the Year We All Started Dressing Like Our Toys

I stay in on Friday nights and watch tons of cooking shows (it’s apparently REALLY difficult to beat Bobby Flay on a show called “Beat Bobby Flay”) I am out here having fantasies, no not THOSE kind of fantasies, I’m fantasizing about a day where it’s safe, going to Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia and having one of EVERYTHING and still trying to figure out how to do all of that, and directly afterwards, still manage to not be too stuffed to have a bowl of Ramen from Chinatown.

But I’m worried. I think about you all. Our vulnerable people, I worry about them getting exposed. I have family that never was able to work from home or have gone back to work, are we sure it’s safe? Even on the other side of caution, the people that are out there boycotting a virus, and I get it, many people are frustrated because they have families and need to earn. I get it. I’m worried for them, going out there pretending something isn’t killing a lot of people, for the hopeful opportunity to earn a paycheck, I understand why, but these people are putting themselves and loved ones in a dangerous situation and I’m worried that maybe a kid wakes up to a Dad no longer there, because that Dad was so desperate to get back to work, that they ignored the signs and maybe made themselves ill. The social media crusaders, we see it all of the time, you can literally find any article on the internet that matches your point of view, case in point 2 years ago when LeBron James was a free agent, I could google “Lebron James to Sixers” and find some sort of article that linked Lebron to the Sixers, and even if that information wasn’t correct, I could still post it like it was truth. For people that are posting these extreme articles blaming people or even downplaying the danger from non reputable sites they’d found called “Dribble Butt Times” or “Fart Face Weekly”, I’m sad and worried that they wanted to make their point SO badly, they’d be willing to just post anything. Facebook is bad like that, where I can see some mean comment or article that someone I knew in Kindergarten posted, that blames a culture or race for whatever they’re dealing with. If people are willing to do that, that makes me sad, because it means that they’re taking valuable time that they could be spending being kind, to spread rhetoric from Dribble Butt Dot Com. People are scared, please leave Dribble Butt Dot Com alone, instead, maybe donate a couple bucks to a food bank? I bet it makes you feel a little better.

Please listen to the medical experts, I guarantee that doctors, nurses and healthcare workers do not check if you’ve posted articles from Dribble Butt Dot Com, they don’t care who you voted for, they don’t care if you’ve ignored the warnings, they just want to help you. There is so much noise, and so much talk out there, but when all is said and done, would you trust non cooks to make your dinner at a restaurant? No. You trust the cooks to make you your soufflé. Trust the medical experts to keep you healthy.

Please know that this can’t last forever. I hope you’re all hanging in there. Please look out for each other, stay safe, listen to the experts and when this is all over, I hope to see you all at Reading Terminal Market.
