Waiting

Since baseball season is all but over, I figured it'd be time to tell a story about a baseball guy named Dallas Green. Dallas is etched in baseball history as well as Philadelphia history as being the guy to take the Phillies to the world series and win it all in 1980.

And also, from what I hear, not such a nice guy.

A few years back, Dallas visited a breakfast place in my hometown in Pennsylvania, where he still owns a horse farm. Well Dallas shows up at the restaurant, barking orders and making demands, also he's treating the wait staff like garbage, like they are second class citizens and that they should be lucky to serve him. Big mistake Dallas. You may be a sports legend, but if you're rude to a waiter...you get what's coming to you. Apparently Dallas got "the treatment", which meansy spit in his iced tea, and his pancakes...well his pancakes were rubbed on some body areas which can not be described in this family friendly blog. Also, Dallas had his Phils cap "taken" from him without his knowledge.

Dallas finished his meal, stood up and left, and didn't tip.

To this day, Dallas is on the radio and often times, stirring up trouble with the current Phillies manager, and continuing his history of "not being such a nice guy". However I think Charlie, the current Phils manager may not feel so bad once he's heard the Dallas Pancake story.

The moral to the story? As much as everyone appreciates a world series win, never ever ever piss off you waiter, or you'll eat weenie flavored pancakes. Just like Dallas.

Sublime always seemed tragic to me. Brad Nowell, the lead singer passed away on May 25th, a week or so before their very sucessful cd came out, so he never saw his hard work pay off. This CD came out before the big "what I got"/"Santeria" cd...and for me...I feel like it's their best work. It's all over the place, reggae/dub/punk and a Bad Religion cover song I wish they didn't do...and Brad Nowell's voice always seemed to have so much soul in it, you believed every single word he sang. I play this cd a alot, and each time in the back of my head somewhere, you wonder how great this group would have sounded if they'd stuck around long enough to reach their potential. This is a great cd and it's packed..something like 18 or 19 songs on it....do yourself a favor and try it out...
